When Lee Yi Kyung, an actor who emerged as a celebrity born into wealth, talked about poverty, Yoo Jae Suk told him this.
In the latest episode of MBC’s program “Hangout with Yoo” broadcast on October 1st, Yoo Jae Suk and PD Park Chang Hoon visited Lee Yi Kyung’s apartment.
On this day, Yoo Jae Suk asked Lee Yi Kyung, “How did you spend the holiday?” Lee Yi Kyung answered, “I continued to work just like yesterday.”
In response, Yoo Jae Suk showed concern about Lee Yi Kyung, who was busy even during the holiday. He said, “I kept working. I can endure it. What’s so hard about working? Being poor is hard.”
Yoo Jae Suk then mentioned Lee Yi Kyung’s background, saying, “But aren’t your family rich? Don’t do it. Everyone knows that your family is very wealthy.”
It is publicly known that Lee Yi Kyung’s father is the former CEO of LG Chem, Korea’s largest chemical company. When his father’s identity was revealed, Lee Yi Kyung became a hot topic as a “golden spoon” celebrity.
Lee Yi Kyung was taken aback by Yoo Jae Suk’s comment. He explained, “My father is a salaried CEO, and my life is different from my father’s.”
After Yoo Jae Suk directly mentioned Lee Yi Kyung’s father’s job, PD Park Chang Hoon asked, “Can’t your father support you a little?”
Lee Yi Kyung went on to reveal that he does not receive any financial support from his father. He said, “Not at all. He doesn’t even know where I moved to. My father always says, ‘Your life is yours to live’.”
Earlier last year, Lee Yi Kyung also clarified the rumor that he was born with a “golden spoon”. When he appeared on a YouTube web variety show, his father’s job was mentioned and he explained, “(My father) used to work for LG. His salary may be high, but it’s not my money. I’m living on my own.”
Lee Yi Kyung even said that he bought his car with his own money and revealed, “I move the lease every two years.I don’t do anything at home.”
Meanwhile, Lee Yi Kyung appeared in the 2012 drama “School 2013” and was recognized for his acting skills and made her mark as an actor. Since then, he has built up his filmography by appearing in dramas such as “My Love From the Star”, and “Descendants of the Sun”.
