Famous Kpop girl group TWICE talked about the hardships behind their fame in a recent interview.
Debuted in 2015, Kpop girl group TWICE has since become a prominent name in the Kpop industry, with fans from every corner of the world.
Recently, TWICE appeared on the famous magazine Cosmopolitan, where they showed off their visuals and charms, as well as disclosed about the various hardships they face throughout their career.
In particular, Sana and Jeongyeon are traumatized by sasaeng fans – who are obsessive to the point they would stalk and harm the idols. Sana even shared that everytime she showed her passport at the airport, she was afraid that fans who took photos from above would be able to get all her personal information.
In addition, getting their phone number leaked is a common issue for idols as big as TWICE. Jeongyeon, for instance, would often receive calls from unfamiliar numbers, making her nervous and worried.
Another and possibly the biggest downside of popularity is the lack of privacy. Work and life balance is also hard to achieve, according to Jihyo and Tzuyu.
“We are so busy that we barely have time for ourselves”, Jihyo said, to which Tzuyu admitted that the schedules of TWICE seem to be “never-ending”. The female idol also expresses that while she is extremely grateful for the love she receives from fans, it’d be better if idols can get time for self-care and restore their energy.
Fortunately, despite their numerous difficulties, TWICE members never forget to pay attention to their health.
For Dahyun, she’d often recharge herself with nutritious food and drinks between word tour concerts. “I also take baths, naps, and watch funny YouTube videos to relax”, the female idol added.
TWICE also take great care of each other. According to Momo, when they are working, there will always be some members more energetic than others, and in these cases, they will be the “battery” that hypes up the rest of the group.
Mina also added that as she’s often a loner, the support and accompaniment of TWICE is the sole reason she feels motivated to try out new things, like water-gliding or eating new food. Nayeon agreed, saying that whenever she faced obstacles, she’d get advice and power from the remaining members.
It seems that behind the limelight, Kpop artists don’t really have it easy. However, for TWICE, their bonding, determination, and willpower can deter all hardships, making them the shining stars they are today. Now, TWICE is a 7-year-old group that is glowing as bright as ever.
