Tragic accident took two students’ lives, perpetrator has no memory

A car racing down the road in broad daylight hit two teenage girls who were on their way home from school together.

The June 22nd broadcast of JTBC’s “Han Moon Cheol’s Dashcam Review” introduced a video of a tragic accident that took the lives of two students.

In the video, the car ran at a frightening speed, ignored the signal and hit two students crossing the crosswalk across the road.

Two students who were on their way home from school together were taken to the hospital, but eventually lost their lives. Witnesses’ testimony that relief measures were difficult and the completely wrecked vehicle showed the terrible situation at the time of the accident.

The perpetrator of the terrible accident is a driver in his 70s, who claims to be mentally and physically weak, saying he cannot remember the moment of the accident because he is taking high blood pressure medication. The bereaved families of two students did not know the cause of the accident and did not even receive a proper apology.

The bereaved families said, “I didn’t know it was my daughter because they covered her face, but I knew it by looking at her feet. I raised her on my own after divorce. She was my only happiness and my only family. I wanted to die with her“, “I came to the hospital and heard that her head broke and her hands couldn’t be used. Her body was so damaged that she had no organs to donate“…

Meanwhile, it was revealed that the perpetrator caused another accident in a nearby apartment earlier. The bereaved families claimed it was “an accident while on the run”. Details are under police investigation. However, the fact that the accident is not being investigated properly because the perpetrator is also hospitalized added bitterness.

Park Mi Sun said with tears in her eyes, “People who have never experienced putting their children first don’t know. If it were me, I’d go crazy, too. I hope it’ll be revealed soon.” Lee Soo Geun agreed, “No one can accept that an innocent daughter is leaving our side.”

Han Moon Cheol said, “We still don’t know where the fault lies in this accident. The first is the driver’s mistake. There are cases where elderly drivers don’t even know that they caused an accident. Second, there may be a problem with the vehicle. If it’s the driver’s fault, the punishment should be heavy. Both we and our children can become victims.”
