This unexpected coincidence makes fans question if “Twenty-five, Twenty-one” hinted the debut of “My Teenage Girl” final lineup

Kim Tae-ri’s character in tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Twenty-five Twenty-one” and the debut group CLASS:y of MBC’s audition program “My Teenage Girl” has one thing in common.

One is a drama, the other is an audition show. Their fields are different. Kim Tae-ri and CLASS:y are respectively an actress and an idol group, who have different areas of activity. However, “Twenty-five Twenty-one” and “My Teenage Girl” had overlapping broadcast hours, as “Twenty-five Twenty-one” aired on Saturday and Sunday, and “My Teenage Girl” on Sunday.

Another thing in common is that they both became hot topics in their own field during a similar period.

CLASSy

CLASS:y is composed of seven members, Won Ji-min, Kim Sun-yu, Myung Hyung-seo, Hong Hye-joo, Kim Ri-won, Park Bo-eun, and Yoon Chae-won, who were selected in the final of “My Teenage Girl,” which was broadcast live on the 27th of last month. According to Good Data Corporation, a TV topic analysis agency, “My Teenage Girl” topped the list of non-drama topics for 11 consecutive weeks until the end of the show. Starting with Mnet’s “M Countdown” on March 3rd, CLASS:y has been performing on other national weekly music programs such as KBS2’s “Music Bank” on the 4th, MBC’s “Show!Music Core” on the 5th and SBS “Inkigayo” on the 6th, catching the attention of K-pop fans.

Kim Tae-ri is appearing in tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Twenty-five Twenty-one”, which has been aired since the 12th of last month. “Twenty-five Twenty-one” tells about the wandering and growth of young people who lost their dreams in the 1998 era. It also contains the refreshing first love of two main characters, who called each other’s names for the first time when they were 22 and 18, love and grow up when they turn 25 and 21. Kim Tae-ri takes on the role of the female lead Na Hee-do, a high-school fencing athlete. The drama is receiving favorable responses from the viewers as its latest broadcast (episode 8) recorded a rating of 10.9%, according to Nielsen Korea’s release on March 6th. “Twenty-five Twenty-one” also ranks No.1 in the drama ‘hot topic’ ranking.

There is one more coincidence between “Twenty-five Twenty-one” and “My Teenage Girl”. That’s ‘CLASSY’. CLASS:y is the name of the debut group formed through “My Teenage Girl”. However, in the 3rd episode of “Twenty-five Twenty-one”, which aired on the 19th of last month, the word printed on Kim Tae-ri’s T-shirt was also “CLASSY”.

It was not until the last broadcast of “My Teenage Girl” that the name of the debut group was announced. In other words, Kim Tae-ri already heralded the appearance of CLASS:y beforehand.

Twenty-five Twenty-one” is becoming more and more popular, but CLASS:y still has to carry out more promoting activities. It will be really interesting to look for more common things between the two shows.
