This Japanese idol-turned-top star couple has reportedly divorced, to make an announcement soon? 

A married couple who became a “couple of the century” in Japan’s entertainment industry has reportedly splitted. 

Until recently, the two even showed off their affection by posting photos together celebrating their 20th anniversary, but reports came out that they have already divorced.

On March 2nd, Japanese media Friday reported that Kimura Takuya and Kudo Shizuka are about to announce their divorce.

Takuya Kimura debuted in 1988 in the boy band SMAP, under Japan’s largest idol agency, Johnny’s. His handsome visuals with dark double eyelids, melancholy eyes, tall nose, and sharp jawline conquered the hearts of Japanese women.

Takuya Kimura, who also has many fans in Korea thanks to his eye-catching looks, is considered an icon among handsome Japanese male celebrities.

Kudo Shizuka is an idol-turned-singer who made her debut in 1986 in the group Onyanko Club and continued her solo career, taking the Japanese music industry by storm.

The two got married in 2000 and have two children together.

Takuya Kimura, who was conservative in revealing his private life, released photos of the two taken in the past in 2020 to mark the 20th anniversary of their marriage. 

However, according to the media, the two have already discussed divorce. Takuya Kimura’s new work is scheduled to be broadcast in April, that’s why the divorce news has not been announced.
