“The Uncanny Counter” renewed for season 2 with the same cast

Our favorite hunters are back to catch new evil spirits!

The Uncanny Counter”, which broke OCN’s highest viewership rating (11%) in January 2021, is speeding up its preparations for broadcast by casting major roles for season 2.

The Uncanny Counter

As revealed by a broadcaster on June 26th, the main cast of season 1, including Jo Byeong Gyu, Yoo Jun Sang, Kim Se Jeong, and Yeom Hye Ran, will reprise their roles in the new season. Following season 1, they will continue to transform into ‘counters’ that fight against evil spirits.

When season 1 was released, “The Uncanny Counter” gained great popularity as it was evaluated as a ‘Korean-style hero drama’. As a result, the production team decided to expand the drama for more than one season early on. From 2018 to last year, the drama was developed based on the webtoon “Amazing Rumor” by author Jang Yi.

The production team is focusing on casting new evil spirits who will lead the centerpiece of the story. One of them is rookie actress Kim Hieora. She has been working as a musical actor since 2009, and made a belated debut in the small screen through JTBC’s “Beyond Evil” last year.  Previously, in January of this year, she received the attention of viewers by performing action sequences in tvN’s “Bad and Crazy”.

In this way, “The Uncanny Counter” season 2 is expected to double its refreshing charm by putting unfamiliar actors at the forefront. In season 1, new actors Choi Gwang Il and Lee Hong Nae were also cast as demons and received an explosive response.

However, the filming for “The Uncanny Counter” season 2 has been delayed to autumn. This is because Jo Byeong Gyu and Kim Se Jeong are busy filming their next dramas one after another as they emerged as rising K-drama stars through season 1. The two are reportedly discussing the filming schedule actively because they have expressed their willingness to participate in “The Uncanny Counter” season 2 in various interviews.
