Shin Min-ah to challenge the role of a mother in new drama “Our Blues” in which her boyfriend Kim Woo-bin also appears
“Rom-com Queen” Shin Min Ah will show a new side of herself as an actress through “Our Blues”.
tvN’s upcoming Sat-Sun drama “Our Blues” (screenplay by Noh Hee Kyung/directed by Kim Gyu Tae), which is set to premiere on April 9, is an omnibus-format series that depicts different life stories of a variety of characters against the warm and lively backdrop of Jeju island. Writer Noh Hee Kyung is expected to convey meaningful messages about life through the storyline.
In “Our Blues”, Shin Min Ah plays Min Seon Ah, who returns to Jeju island with a wound in her heart. She will be showing a completely different charm from her previous drama “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”. Through her portrayal of dentist Yoon Hye Jin in last year’s successful drama “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”, Shin Min Ah flaunted her loveliness and proved herself to be a “Rom-com Queen”. Choosing “Our Blues” as her next work, she promises to show viewers a 180-degree change in the character she transforms into this time, gaining high expectations.
The first still cuts of Shin Min Ah in “Our Blues” have also been released. In one photo, Shin Min Ah is standing alone on the breakwater in the sea of Jeju, where the waves are crashing against. She seems to be immersed in her own thoughts. Her long hair gets scattered in the wind. She wraps her arms around her body as she sheds tears and looks downhearted. Her hurt-filled eyes attract attention. Through only a still cut, the lovely and bubbly image of Shin Min Ah from her previous drama that we are familiar with cannot be seen. The photo gives off a cold atmosphere and piques curiosity about Min Seon Ah’s backstory and what kind of pain she is going through.
Notably, for “Our Blues”, Shin Min Ah challenges herself in a mother role for the first time in her acting career. In another still cut, which seems like a flashback scene, shows Min Seon Ah hugging her cute little son as she smiles happily. Based on two still cuts of Shin Min Ah with opposite atmospheres, viewers are looking forward to finding out why Min Seon Ah decides to come to Jeju and why she is separated from her child. The production crew said, “Through “Our Blues”, Shin Min Ah took on an acting challenge that had not been seen before. The audience will be able to see a new and different side of actress Shin Min Ah.”
Meanwhile, “Our Blues” is a collaboration between writer Noh Hee Kyung and director Kim Gyu Tae, who created well-made and popular dramas such as “Live”, “It’s Okay, That’s Love” and “That Winter, The Wind Blows”. A star-studded cast with 14 actors including Lee Byung Hun, Shin Min Ah, Cha Seung Won, Lee Jung Eun, Han Ji Min, Kim Woo Bin, Kim Hye Ja, Ko Doo Shim, and Uhm Jung Hwa have been drawing much attention. The first episode of “Our Blues” will broadcast at 9:10 pm KST on April 9th on tvN.
Kim Woo-bin and Shin Min-ah, who are lovers in real life, is known to appear together in this drama, drawing fans’ attention ever since the production stage.
However, the two will not form a couple in this work. In “Our Blues”, Shin Min-ah will show her chemistry with Lee Byung-hun, while Kim Woo-bin has a loveline with Han Ji-min.
