Actress Lee Sung Kyung explained the dating rumor with Kim Young Kwang raised by the production team of “Call It Love”.
On the afternoon of April 10th, Lee Sung Kyung had an interview with Wikitree at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul ahead of the end of Disney+’s drama “Call It Love”.
“Call It Love” is a romantic melodrama about a woman whose life goes downhill after finding out about her father’s affair and falling in love with his mistress’s son.
In “Call It Love”, Lee Sung Kyung plays Shim Woo Joo, a woman seeking revenge after witnessing her father’s affair in her youth, while Kim Young Kwang plays Han Dong Jin, a seemingly perfect man who is actually lonely and troubled on the inside.
At a press conference for “Call It Love” held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore last year, PD Lee Kwang Young said, “People at the editing room said that Kim Young Kwang and Lee Sung Kyung might be dating.”
Regarding this remark, Lee Sung Kyung made everyone laugh by confessing, “It was the director’s intention. It was when we were filming part 4 and editing parts 1~2. The director said, ‘People at the editing room were so excited that they went crazy.’ She talked like that for various purposes, to encourage and give the two of us strength. When I heard that, I told her, ‘We only fight in part 1 and part 2, what kind of chemistry is it?'”
She added, “The on-site response was absolutely not like that. People teased us, such as ‘Please, I just want to see Han Dong Jin and Shim Woo Joo. I don’t want to see your true selves anymore. You’re going to break everyone’s immersion’. Today is the same. They said, ‘I get excited when watching the making videos of other works. What’s wrong with this place?'”
At the same time, Lee Sung Kyung said, “I’m grateful that there’s chemistry between Dong Jin and Woo Joo.”
