NewJeans made history on Billboard “Hot 100”, 6 months after debut

4th generation girl group NewJeans entered the US Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart for the first time since their debut.

According to the latest chart released by Billboard, an American music media outlet, on January 17th (local time), the song “Ditto” from NewJeans’ single “OMG” ranked 96th on the main single chart “Hot 100”.

Back on January 7th, “Ditto” ranked 17th on Billboard’s “Bubbling Under Hot 100” chart, which includes 25 songs that were close, but did not enter the “Hot 100”. Afterwards, the song climbed to 8th place on the chart released on January 14th, raising expectations for entry into the “Hot 100”.

Now that “Ditto” has entered the “Hot 100” chart, NewJeans has set a new record among Kpop artists, having entered the chart in 6 months – the shortest period since debut for a Kpop artist. 

In addition, with this achievement, New Jeans became the first Kpop 4th generation group to enter Billboard’s “Hot 100”, joining the league of Wonder Girls, PSY, 2NE1 CL, and TWICE.
