The ratings are disappointing…”Joseon Attorney”, unfortunate work eclipsed by “Taxi Driver 2”

The true value of “Joseon Attorney” is not seeing the light.

“Joseon Attorney”, which first aired on March 31st, is about foreign branch (attorney) Kang Han Soo (Woo Do Hwan), who takes revenge on the enemy who killed his parents through trial.

In particular, “Joseon Attorney” drew attention in that it is Woo Do Hwan’s comeback work after being discharged from the military. Besides, Kim Ji Yeon (Bona), who emerged as a rising star through tvN’s “Twenty-Five Twenty-One”, challenged a historical drama for the first time. MBC also overcame the drama slump two years ago with “The Red Sleeve”, so there must have been confidence that “Joseon Attorney” would protect “historical drama master” MBC’s pride.

However, the biggest enemy of “Joseon Attorney” was the airing period. This is because its previous work “Kokdu: Season of Deity” ended with a rating of 1% without receiving much attention from the public, and its competitor “Taxi Driver 2” recorded the highest ratings of 17%. JTBC’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Divorce Attorney Shin” maintains a stable rating of 6%. “Dr. Romantic 3” and “Doctor Cha”, the next dramas after “Taxi Driver 2” and “Divorce Attorney Shin”, are also attracting attention.

Despite the actors’ passionate acting and chemistry, solid narrative and directing, as well as “historical drama master” MBC’s reputation, the ratings of “Joseon Attorney” are disappointing. The first episode recorded 2.8% and the second episode recorded 2.9%, a slight increase from the last episode of “Kokdu: Season of Deity”, but it ranked the lowest among the shows airing at the same time. Accordingly, it remains to be seen whether “Joseon Attorney” will be able to achieve a rise in ratings against strong competitors through word of mouth.
