A surprise has happened in the race to be the girl group with the highest first-week album sales between TWICE and BLACK PINK on Hanteo.
When TWICE used to be called “the New Generation’s Queen of Album”, in 2019, BLACK PINK rises and becomes the biggest risk which is threatening TWICE’s throne. The battle of album sales between these 2 top K-Pop girl group is getting hotter when the physical album “Kill This Love” of BLACK PINK and “Fancy You” of TWICE are both opened for sale on April 23rd, making this into a race to be the girl group with the highest first-week sales on Hanteo chart.

And the result is out. The 9 girls from JYP Entertainment is the winner. TWICE has broken the record of the highest first-week album sales for a girl group on Hanteo with 151,051 copies of “Fancy You’ sold in the first 7 days.

This can be seen as an impressive come back from TWICE. Before this, they have been defeated twice by BLACK PINK in the field of albums sales. BLACK PINK defeated TWICE to be the girl group with the highest first-day album sales (“Kill This Love” with 78 thousand copies) and the fastest girl group to achieve 100 thousand copies on Hanteo.

Apart from this, TWICE has sold 314,353 copies of “Fancy You” on Gaon in just 3 days (April 23rd to 25th). Thanks to this, these 9 girls from JYP has become the first girl group in 2019 to receive a Platinum Certificate from Gaon for albums with over 250,000 copies.
Congratulations TWICE!
