The audience frustrated when “The Idol” ends sooner than initial plan

“The Idol” will end with 5 episodes, not 6, as initially planned.

After “The Idol” aired the fourth episode on June 25, it was announced that the episode of the following week would be the finale, which means it will end on the fifth episode and not the sixth, as originally planned.

The sudden announcement left the audience in shock because the series was only starting to enter its main storyline. They started asking how everything would be solved in the last 60 minutes.

Apart from the apparent outrage, a rumor has it that the remaining episodes were cut down to only one after Sam Levinson removed all the controversial scenes with sexual content.

At the same time, according to TVLine, when “The Idol” is ending sooner than expected, it means there will not be a second season.

“The season ended up being five episodes when it was all said and done after Sam [Levinson] took over and made significant changes,” an insider told the TVLine.

Previously, when Variety revealed that “The Idol” would run for 6 episodes, the series was still in the hands of Amy Seimetz. However, when Sam Levinson took over, he reshaped the whole thing and changed its entire direction. This explains the gap between the actual and planned number of episodes.

Currently, there is no news on whether “The Idol” will have another season when HBO has not released its production plan. The final episode will premiere on July 2.

Before this news came out, The Weeknd said that, if he had had more time, he would have had more chance to develop a complete storyline and fully convey the messages of the show.
