“Smugglers” Go Min Si expresses admiration for Kim Hye Soo, “She told me to take better care of myself”
Actress Go Min Si confessed that she got emotional when receiving advice from senior actress Kim Hye Soo.
On July 25th, Go Min Si had an interview at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and told various stories about her upcoming film “Smugglers” (directed by Ryu Seung Wan).
“Smugglers” is a crime movie about a smuggling operation that unfolds in front of people who make their living in the sea by picking up daily necessities thrown into the sea. Go Min Si takes on the role of Go Ok Bun, who is a skilled information broker who collects everything about the world of smuggling in Guncheon. Starting as the youngest member who runs a coffee shop, Go Ok Bun takes advantage of her unique charm to get close to men and women of all ages to help Chun Ja (Kim Hye Soo) and Jin Sook (Yum Jung Ah).
During the interview, Go Min Si revealed that she couldn’t forget the moment she met senior actress Kim Hye Soo for the first time. She said, “I first met Hye Soo sunbaenim in the makeup car, and she said, ‘I’ve been watching you since ‘The Witch’ and even wrote your name in a memo paper because I was deeply impressed by your performance’. I choked up at that moment”.
She confessed, “In fact, when I joined ‘Smugglers’, I felt both excited and worried. I thought, ‘I shouldn’t become a black hole among the great senior actors’. However, during the script reading, Hye Soo sunbaenim said, ‘You’re doing well. I’m very happy to act with you’. She praised me while holding my hands and I couldn’t forget that moment. I felt overwhelmed”.
Go Min Si continued, “During the stage greeting, I came to her room and we talked until 6 a.m. We shared a lot of stories and didn’t even realize that time was passing”, adding “I normally don’t sleep much, but Kim Hye Soo advised, ‘It’s good to work hard during the filming process, but I think you are overworking yourself. It might help you perform more precisely and better, but in order to continue acting for a long time, you should take care of yourself and love yourself more.”
The young actress shared, “She also talked about her own experiences, and I was deeply moved by her warm words”, adding “Being able to watch senior actors’ acting performances up close was already a great pleasure to me. Especially, Kim Hye Soo sunbaenim has an admirable aura that dominates the screen. I learned many things from her.”
