SM Responds to Termination Notices of EXO Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen’s Exclusive Contracts: Citing Unreasonable Proposals from External Forces
SM Entertainment has spoken up regarding the sudden termination notices of EXO members’ exclusive contracts.
On June 1st, SM Entertainment stated, “We have confirmed the existence of external forces who have approached our artists, delivering false information/misleading legal evaluations, and making unreasonable proposals so that our artists can ignore their exclusive contracts with our company and enter into contracts with them.”
SM further explained, “These external forces, without any genuine concern for the artists, are engaging in illegal acts such as using euphemisms and malicious slander to mislead our artists into violating their valid exclusive contracts or engaging in dual contracts.”

Finally, SM stated, “We will not disregard the actions of those who solely pursue greed for money, without any interest in the essential matters such as the artist’s future or legitimate legal rights. We will take all possible legal measures.”
SM added, “We will strive to respond firmly to the illegal activities of impure external forces, showing our dedication to the fans who truly love the artists and meeting their high expectations.”
