On the afternoon of March 6th, through their fan community, SM Entertainment released an official statement regarding the serious infringement on NCT member’s privacy from sasaeng fans.

In particular, the statement reads:

“Recently, there are an increasing number of acts that seriously infringe on the privacy of NCT members.

Members are suffering excruciatingly as acts such as unauthorized visits to places related to the daily lives of NCT members, waiting for members and following vehicles, excessive contact or filming of members in airport security areas, including airplanes, illegally acquiring personal information indiscriminately, trying to contact them and spreading malicious rumors continue.

In particular, at the end of November last year, there was a so-called ‘sasaeng’ invasion of Haechan’s house. As Haechan is living with his family, it is a situation where Haechan and his family are complaining of considerable psychological damage due to this incident.

The ‘sasaeng’ who committed further trespassing was prosecuted by the prosecution, and according to Haechan’s will, they received leniency and would not be punished. However, in light of the seriousness of our artists’ privacy infringement, we have decided to disclose this case and issue a warning that such a problem will not occur any more.

We would like to reiterate that this is not an act of showing interest in the artist, but a stalking criminal act that instills fear in the artist and causes serious damage to the artist as well as to his family and acquaintances. Please stop the infringement immediately.

In the future, we will strictly deal with illegal acts such as home invasion, personal information leakage, and stalking by ‘sasaengs’ with a zero-tolerance principle, and we will inform you that we will take strong legal action using all means available to us. Please be careful not to get involved in such unpleasant actions.

We will continue to do our best to protect our artists.

Thank you”.
