Ryoko Hirosue admits to cheating allegations

Ryoko Hirosue issued a formal apology for having an affair with a Michelin chef.

On March 14, according to Bunshun, Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue admitted she betrayed her husband and had an affair with a Michelin chief Shusaku Toba. She wrote a letter to apologize to her fans and the people who got involved because of her thoughtless behavior.

Ryoko’s company issued a warning against the actress and decided to stop working with her indefinitely. The cheating scandal deals a strong blow to the actress’ career.

Previously, the Japanese media released numerous photo evidence of the actress on a date the Michelin chef. However, until June 7, she persistently denied the rumor and affirmed they were just close friends.

She claimed that, while she knew the chef, they both had families of their own. She urged the press to respect their privacy.

When the actress admitted to allegation, Ryoko’s working partners terminated their contracts with her so that they would not be affected by her negative image. Her upcoming film project starting rolling in June is also postponed. According to Bunshun, compensation to her partners can reach up to millions.

Ryoko Hirosue was born in 1980 and was a popular figure in Japan because of her visuals. Her innocent charm garnered much love from the public. In the 1990s, printed materials of the actress became sought-after items. Products with ads containing the actress also sold out rapidly. 

Before the scandal, Ryoko is the go-to actress for many brands thanks to her positive reputation with the public and a happy family. She married a candle artist Jun Izutsu in 2010. The couple has three children together. Before the affair was brought to light, Ryoko sought to divorce her husband with the reason that she no longer found him attractive and the marriage life was boring.
