The prosecution reportedly investigated whether Park Min Young was involved in Kang’s process of making unfair profits through manipulation of stock prices and embezzlement as the actual owner of Bithumb affiliates.

The prosecution reportedly found circumstantial evidence that Park Min Young’s name was used in the transaction under the borrowed name of convertible bonds issued by Bithumb affiliates and that hundreds of millions of profits were generated.

However, Park Min Young appeared at the prosecution and insisted that the transaction had nothing to do with her.

Prosecutors are said to be banning Park Min Young from leaving the country and reviewing whether to additionally summon her.

Regarding this, Park Min Young’s agency, Hook Entertainment, told Wikitree, “We will check and contact you again.”

Earlier, Park Min Young’s ex-boyfriend Kang Jong Hyun was arrested on charges of embezzlement, breach of trust, and fraudulent transactions under the Capital Markets Act. On February 1st, after questioning the suspect and before arresting Kang, a senior judge at the Seoul Southern District Court decided to issue a warrant “to prevent escape and destruction of evidence”.

Jo, known as Bithumb’s unlisted affiliate CEO and Kang’s close acquaintance, was also arrested. However, the warrant for another Jo, who was in charge of accounting under Kang’s instructions, was rejected. That person is said to have admitted to all the charges.
