The male rapper continued, “I never take drugs. When public attention was on the identity of the rapper who turned himself in after taking drugs, I made a joke by claiming that I was that rapper and my comment spread all over the place on SNS and in various online communities. That’s why I’m apologizing”, adding “I want to apologize for causing discomfort and unpleasant feelings to people around me.”

Along with his apology, New Champ added a photo of an article reporting that New Champ was the famous rapper in his 30s who turned himself in for taking drugs.

Earlier on the 19th, it was reported that rapper A came to meet a police officer at the Seoul Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in Yongsan-gu, Seoul and turned himself in. According to reports, A kept saying words that were hard to understand, such as “Is this the police station?”, “I want to turn myself in for taking drugs”, etc. The police believed that A’s condition was serious and took measures to protect the nearby area.

As a result, the Yongsan Police Station suspected that A had taken drugs this month and launched an internal investigation. A is known to be a rapper who has been doing various activities recently.

As the news became a hot topic online, New Champ lied that he was rapper A and caused controversy. He commented in a hip-hop community, saying “After releasing my new song, I turned myself him because they called me XXXX even though I never took drugs. Great”. The male rapper was just joking around but he eventually apologized as his lie got out of control.

In response, netizens commented, “Why are you making jokes about drugs, which is a serious social problem these days?”, “Why did you claim things you don’t do then have to apologize?”, “New Champ was so careless”, “I’m glad he corrected he quickly corrected it”, etc.
