MBC’s new Fri-Sat drama “My Dearest”, which will premiere on August 4th, is a human historical melodrama about love in the midst of the Manchu War and the vitality of the people during this time. Screenwriter Hwang Jin Young of “The King’s Daughter, Soo Baek Hyang” and “The Rebel” worked together with “The Veil” director Kim Sung Yong to create this work.
As the title suggests, “My Dearest”, starring Nam Goong Min and Ahn Eun Jin, tells the deep and passionate love of lovers.
Nam Goong Min, “Ahn Eun Jin is very bright and lovely”
Making his first historical drama comeback through “My Dearest” after 10 years, Nam Goong Min plays the male lead Lee Jang Hyun, a man with outstanding intelligence, charisma, and pure sincerity as he only looks at one woman. The woman whom Lee Jang Hyun loves with all his life is Yoo Gil Chae.
Regarding his romance chemistry with Ahn Eun Jin, Nam Goong Min shared, “During the early winter shoots, I didn’t have many opportunities to film with Ahn Eun Jin. However, as the seasons changed then spring and summer arrived, I began to have more scenes with her. She portrayed Gil Chae’s bright and lovable charm in her own style. Thanks to actress Ahn Eun Jin, we were able to perform romantic scenes without any difficulties.”

Even before joining “My Dearest”, Ahn Eun Jin already expressed her expectations about acting alongside Nam Goong Min. The actress revealed that her anticipation and beliefs became stronger after filming the drama.
When asked about her experience of working with Nam Goong Min, Ahn Eun Jin confessed, “I received lots of help from senior actor Nam Goong Min. Gil Chae’s dreams, imagination, and thoughts are very important in the drama, and whenever I filmed those scenes, he (Nam Goong Min) always looked at me affectionately from behind the camera with the eyes of Lee Jang Hyun. So, I didn’t need to create any acting performances. I just followed Jang Hyun, and the love and longing of Gil Chae were naturally expressed through my acting.”
She added, “Gil Chae shines whenever she’s with Jang Hyun or thinks of him, and in those moments, Nam Goong Min stood behind the camera and harmonized with my acting. I’m very excited and curious to see how those scenes will turn out in the official broadcast.”
Nam Goong Min praised Ahn Eun Jin for her lively and cute aspect, while Ahn Eun Jin thanked Nam Goong Min for his detailed instructions and consideration.
MBC’s upcoming Fri-Sat series “My Dearest” will air its first episode at 9:50 p.m. on August 4th.
