K-netizens react to BLACKPINK’s estimated payment after contract renewal

The expected down payment and profit share for BLACKPINK should they renew their contract with YG was recently reported. 

On August 4th, a topic titled “The estimated down payment if BLACKPINK renews their contract with YG is 1.5 billion won per person” was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”, drawing huge attention. 

In particular, the topic refers to an August 3rd article from Herald Economy, which reported that BLACKPINK is estimated to receive 1.5 billion won (approx 1.1 million USD) per member as down payment should they renew their contract with YG Entertainment.

In addition, the news site stated that after re-contracting, BLACKPINK’s profit share is likely to exceed 80%, while the company receives 20%. Meanwhile, BIGBANG received a down payment of 1 billion won per member, whilst the number for TWICE was 1.2 billion won per member after contract renewal.
