Mother asks for solution as her elementary school daughter wants to buy Jang Won Young’s 1-million-won Miu Miu shoes

A mother expressed worries about whether to buy luxury shoes for her elementary school child.

The luxury brand industry is using K-pop idols to stimulate the consumption desires of young people. With the expansion of K-pop, it is common for Korean idol group members to become luxury brand ambassadors.

By presenting idol group members as their faces, luxury brands can make their brand image look young and enjoy promotional benefits around the world.

Although there are many positive aspects of idols being luxury brand ambassadors, concerns have also been raised. The majority of complainers are parents because children nowadays often ask them to buy luxury clothes, bags, and shoes that their favorite singers and celebrities use.

Housewife A revealed that her daughter, who is an elementary school student, recently watched videos of Jang Won Young and became interested in the female idol, who is currently working as a Miu Miu Ambassador. As a result, A is struggling to buy Miu Miu shoes for her daughter.

The reason A is having a hard time is that the price of the shoes she searched for was up to 1 million won. 

A confessed, “It’s too expensive for me to afford, but I’m worried that if I don’t buy it, my child might feel discouraged and excluded at school. I feel even more frustrated knowing some kids are wearing expensive shoes. I’m wondering if buying these luxury things is the right thing to do”.

The trend of using luxury items among elementary and middle school students has emerged as a phenomenon for a while. 

As such distorted consumptions can lead to real financial burdens for households, many parents have raised the issue and voiced calling for a solution.
