LOONA returns amid Chuu’s departure controversy, meaning of the “rotten apple”

Girl group LOONA, which has been embroiled in controversies over a member’s exit, caught attention with the teaser video for their January comeback.

On December 13th, LOONA’s agency Blockberry Creative released a teaser video for LOONA’s new album “The Origin Album: 0” via the group’s official Instagram.

The published videos show various objects with symbolic meanings such as the black moon, primitive stars, and eyes, giving off a mysterious atmosphere. There are also images such as divided cells becoming one again, and rotten apples returning to their original state, adding to the curiosity about LOONA’s new concept of going against time. At the end of the video, the logo of the new album “0” was revealed, raising expectations for the comeback.

On the other hand, Chuu, a former member of LOONA, was expelled from the group in November. According to the agency, the decision was made due to Chuu verbally abusing the staff members, but other staff, fans, advertisers, and fellow colleagues, including LOONA Hyunjin and soloist Sunmi have taken Chuu’s side.

In response, Blockberry Creative said that if Chuu felt the statement was unfair, she can step up to prove them wrong herself. Meanwhile, Chuu said she “didn’t do anything that would embarrass” her fans, and has been working hard with various activities since then.
