Although not too successful, Kim Yoo Jung’s Hong Chun Gi also ended with a positive rating.
The historical drama Hong Chun Gi (Lovers Of The Red Sky), starring Kim Yoo Jung and Ahn Hyo Seop, finished with an excellent achievement after 16 episodes that left a lot of good impressions in the public’s heart. In particular, episode 16 recorded average nationwide viewership ratings of 10.4 percent. This is a 1.5 percent increase from the last episode‘s ratings of 8.9 percent and slightly higher than the drama’s previous personal best ratings of 10.2 percent. This number, which established the highest rating for this drama, also helped Hong Chun Gi hold the top spot in the Monday – Tuesday time period.
The episode opens up with Hong Cheon Gi (Kim Yoo Jung) worried about Ha Ram’s return as she tries to finish the divine painting. Scholar Ha needs to return to the palace before the sealing ritual, or he will be consumed by the demon king, Ma Wang, forever. After struggling to find its way back, the blind astrologer returns just in time for the ceremony; however, an unexpected thing happened. Royal Shaman Mi Soo failed to beat Ma Wang, who is manifesting in Ha Ram’s body. Unfortunately, the demon king succeeded and got the divine painter’s sight. Despite this, she’s eager to finish the portrait to help Ha Ram be freed from Ma Wang.
Interestingly, Sam Shin, Tiger Goddess and Hwacha appeared to help seal the demon king. Finally, Ha Ram is freed from Ma Wang, but it is hard for him to see Cheon Gi lose her sight. The painter also recalled how they first met, but despite the unfortunate circumstance that happened to Cheon Go, he promised to stay by her side and take care of her forever.
Five years later, everything went back to normal; even Cheon Gi regained her sight thanks to the deity and goddesses. “Lovers of the Red Sky” episode 16 also featured a happy ending scenario for Hong Cheon Gi and Ha Ram as they were able to start a family together, naming their only son, Ha Joong. The drama ended with a happy ending that beyond the audience’s expectations.
The audience went crazy over this happy ending on social media. People’s attention was also drawn to “Little Haram,” the main couple’s son. Meanwhile, many people still can’t get used to the image of Kim Yoo Jung as a mother. Objectively, she looks too young to play the role of a mother.
