Lee So Jung reveals herself as a mix-race, “Mom cursed, hit and sued me. I was treated like a sinner due to my existence”
Actress Lee So Jung recalled how her mother mistreated her.
The August 21st broadcast of MBC’s “Oh Eun Young’s Report: Marriage Hell” showed actress Lee So Jung appearing with her husband, who is running a Japanese restaurant.
The two looked unhappy after their marriage. Lee So Jung revealed that she suffered from alcohol addiction, panic disorder, depression and even attempted extreme choices. In fact, a regular customer of the Japanese restaurant submitted Lee So Jung and her husband’s story to the program instead of the couple.
When asked if she hurriedly got married because she had a hard time and had no one to lean on, Lee So Jung confessed, “At that time, I just wanted to get away from my mom and didn’t feel depressed. My mom didn’t even come to my wedding. She called it a thief marriage and sued me for money. “
In an interview with the production team, Lee So Jung said, “My mom secretly went to the US and got married without my grandparents knowing it. One day, she brought me to Korea”. Revealing that her father is a foreigner, she shared, “Being a mix-race is not a big deal to me. Mom chose to marry my dad and gave birth to me but she felt ashamed of me for being a mix-race. It’s not even my fault, but she cursed and hit me because I resembled my dad.”
She continued, “I wanted to avoid my mom for a long time so I decided to get married. Mom did not know about my marriage registration. One day, a complaint was sent to my house in Pyeongtaek, stating that my mom demanded compensation of 290 million won for the money she invested in raising me. I was treated like a sinner because of my existence.”
Lee So Jung added, “At first, I negotiated for a compensation of 100 million won. After she came to the restaurant and saw the two of us working hard, she agreed to 50 million won. I didn’t even want to maintain a relationship with her. But it doesn’t make sense to sue my own parents so I just gave her the money”.
