Lee Jung-jae finally takes his first step into Hollywood “When will ‘Squid Game’ co-star Jung Ho-yeon’s works be released?”
As Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon, who rose to global stardom with Netflix's original series "Squid Game" (directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk), entered Hollywood, there is increasing interest in the endeavors of these two actors
On March 19th, Lucasfilm released a teaser trailer along with posters for Disney+’s original series “The Acolyte”.
Set at the end of the High Republic era before the events of the main Star Wars films, “The Acolyte” is a mystery survival horror series that follows a Jedi investigation into a series of crimes. It is set to premiere on June 5th.
Although the production news initially did not attract much attention, the announcement of Lee Jung-jae’s casting drew significant interest domestically.
Lee Jung-jae mentioned at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration Europe held last year, “English isn’t my first language, so I would have turned it down if it wasn’t ‘Star Wars’. Who would reject ‘Star Wars’ when they even let you wield a lightsaber?“
Especially, as this marks the first time a Korean actor has been cast in the “Star Wars” series since its inception in 1977, there was intense curiosity about his role. His portrayal as Jedi Master “Sol” was confirmed, allowing viewers to see him wielding a lightsaber.
On the other hand, Jung Ho-yeon, who successfully entered Hollywood before Lee Jung-jae, has yet to have the release dates of her projects confirmed.
After the success of “Squid Game”, Jung Ho-yeon confirmed her appearance in director Alfonso Cuarón’s Apple TV+ original series “Disclaimer” in March 2022. Then in April, she also confirmed her role in the movie “The Governesses” starring Lily-Rose Depp, Johnny Depp’s daughter.
Following these projects, Jung Ho-yeon, who also appeared in The Weeknd’s “Out of Time” music video, confirmed her appearance in director Na Hong-jin’s new work “HOPE”.
However, apart from her special appearance in Netflix’s original series “Chicken Nugget”, the release dates of her projects remain uncertain, leaving many eagerly anticipating her upcoming works.
It is anticipated to see how the Hollywood debut projects of Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon, who carried the success of “Squid Game”, will be received.
