K-netizens Discuss Low Ratings Of SBS Drama Awards Compared To That Of MBC Entertainment Awards: Mourning vs Fun
On December 29, SBS Drama Awards and MBC Entertainment Awards were held with participation of various top stars. Even though the two events were to honor celebrities of two different genres, acting and variety shows, netizens couldn’t help comparing them as they were held on the same day.
On December 30, a post was made on the popular Korean forum theqoo with the title, “The different atmospheres of SBS Drama Awards and MBC Entertainment Awards.”
Attached in this posts are photos of the two ceremonies, one with Yoo Jae-seok dancing against a color background, and one with actors and actresses dressed in back standing against a black background. The post points out that the SBS awards show has become a funeral after the sudden passing of actor Lee Sun-kyun. According to reports, MBC Entertainment Awards’ ratings were 6.4% in Part 1, 8.9% in Part 2, and 11.9% in maximum, while that of SBS Drama Awards Part 1 was 3.0%, Part 2 3.1%, and the highest was recorded at 7.8%.
After only a few hours, the original post on theqoo has gathered approximately 35,000 views and numerous comments, most of which agree and criticize the sad atmosphere at SBS Drama Awards.
