K-dramas received favorable responses on Netflix, “60% of global Netflix subscribers watch Korean content in 2022”

The K-content sensation continued to spread on Netflix throughout 2022. 

On December 29th, Netflix unveiled 20 highlights that drew the most attention this year through its official global newsroom. The report mentioned a number of Korean dramas and also confirmed the expansion of the Korean Wave.

Netflix revealed that 60% of its subscribers around the world have watched at least one Korean work.

In particular, “All of Us Are Dead” and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” were listed side by side as No.1 and No.2 in the TOP 10 non-English Netflix TV series based on viewing time. “Business Proposal” also came in 8th place.

“All of Us Are Dead” is a drama released in January this year. It tells about high school students getting trapped in their school, where the zombie virus spreads, and struggling to survive while waiting to be rescued. The series topped Netflix’s worldwide ranking within the first day of its release.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” was released simultaneously on ENA Channel and Netflix in June. The work centers around the survival of Woo Young Woo, a rookie attorney with a genius brain and autism spectrum disorder, at a large law firm.

In addition, “Narco-Saints” also showed an extraordinary performance. The drama, which was based on the true story of the drug king Jo Bong Haeng, rose to 3rd place in Netflix Worldwide Top 10 on the 5th day of its release. “Juvenile Justice”, which deals with minor offenders, also ranked 7th on the Worldwide TV Series Ranking.

Netflix introduced a total of 21 works in 2022. This was also the year with the most releases after Netflix entered Korea.
