“If You Wish Upon Me” Ji Chang-wook and Choi Soo-young “Healing drama… Predict the first episode’s rating will be 5%”
Actors Ji Chang-wook and Choi Soo-young showed confidence in the new drama “If You Wish Upon Me”.
Actors Ji Chang-wook and Choi Soo-young of KBS2’s Wednesday-Thursday drama “If You Wish Upon Me“, which is scheduled to premiere on August 10th, appeared on KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show” (hereinafter referred to as “Radio Show”). “If You Wish Upon Me” is a healing drama set in a hospice hospital that fulfills different last wishes of people at the end of their lives. Ji Chang-wook plays Yoon Gyeo-rye, a community volunteer worker, and Choi Soo-young plays Seo Yeon-joo, a nurse at hospice hospital.
Ji Chang-wook introduced, “‘If You Wish Upon Me’ deals with what happens in a hospice hospital. Yoon Gyeo-rye barely survives the present without the desire and will for life. Then as a coincidence, he starts community service at the hospital. It’s a healing drama, but there’s also a thriller-like genre. You can look forward to it.”
Sooyoung predicted the first broadcast’s rating would be “5%” and expressed her anticipation by saying, “I believe the start will be light and go up further in the future.” She added, “I tend to watch the dramas in which I appear with my mom. My mom has a good eye for dramas, so she predicts whether a drama will succeed as soon as she watches its first episode. I’ll have to see how she reacts.”
The two first worked together in “If You Wish Upon Me”. When asked about their first impressions of each other, Choi Soo-young said with satisfaction, “I heard Choi Tae-joon, an actor I worked with, praise Ji Chang-wook a lot. I know the two of them are close. I think we quickly became close because we had an internal relationship.”
Ji Chang-wook added, “I’ve already heard a lot of good stories about Sooyoung, so I’ve already been somewhat fond of her. It was comfortable and nice working with her,” he said. “After going through the process of building our bonds such as reading scripts before filming, we became very close. The filming is over now, but we call each other ‘hey’ and ‘you’ instead of our names now,” showing off their friendship.
Ji Chang-wook, who has outstanding singing skills, said, “I don’t not participate in the OST this time. An offer came in but I has politely declined. In fact, I would like to sing too, but seeing the drama, I thought it would be better for talented singers to sing it,” he said. Meanwhile, Choi Soo-young, who sang the OST for “If You Wish Upon Me,” showed off her live performance on the spot.
The duo also talked about their nine-month filming process. Choi Soo-young said, “Sung Dong-il, who also appears in the drama, is so funny that he made the filming site lively. With Ji Chang-wook. the three of us chatted a lot on-site. We were so loud that the director has had a hard time,” she said, drawing laughter. Sung Dong-il played Kang Tae-sik, the leader of “Team Genie” which grants the last wishes of hospice hospital patients in the drama.
“Our drama deals with the stories of patients with limited time, and it is interesting as the stories of each patient change in each episode. I hope you look forward to this show,” she shared.
Finally, Ji Chang-wook said, “I am making a comeback with a drama after a long while. We filmed really hard for 9 months. I hope you look forward to it, and please look out for the first episode.”
Choi Soo-young said, “After the filming, I watched a few parts of the edited version of the drama and it was really fun to watch. I hope you guys will love it,” she said. “Girls’ Generation also recently made a comeback. Our scheduled music show has been postponed to another time, but we still plan to perform a good stage in front of our fans in any way possible,” she concluded.
