Jeon So Mi reveals her extroverted side, “When I don’t sleep on the plane, I chat with the flight attendants”
Singer Jeon So Mi explained why she signed with The Black Label and talked about her outgoing personality.
On July 20th, the Youtube channel “by PDC” released a new video titled “I’ve Put My Heart and Soul into This Album!”.
Regarding her connection with The Black Label, Jeon So Mi confessed, “Big Bang and 2NE1’s songs played a huge role in my childhood. And the person behind almost all of their songs was Teddy, who participated as a lyricist and composer. For me, Teddy was a mysterious songwriter who I didn’t even know or how he looked. But then, just as I was searching for a new agency, I got his call”.
Jeon So Mi signed an exclusive contract with The Black Label led by Teddy, the company of many talented producers, in 2018.
Showing her affection for The Black Label, Jeon So Mi said, “Back then, despite having Zion.T as one of their artists, the company wasn’t that big. That’s why the executives were so happy to have me, while I was grateful that they chose me. We were thankful to each other. And now, we’re like family”.
She added, “I was well-known to the public but career-wise, I was like a blank canvas to them. So they thought they could paint something nice on it”, revealing the reason The Black Label recruited her.
Song Yoon Ah smiled and commented, “It’s hard to picture you doing anything else”. Hearing that, Jeon So Mi said, “My childhood dream was to become a flight attendant. Since I’m biracial, I speak English and I love to ride on airplanes. So I thought, ‘it sounds good to me’. Even till now, whenever I’m on a plane, I do sleep, but I’m awake most of the time. And that’s when I got to chat with the flight attendants”, surprising Song Yoon Ah with her extroverted side.
The female singer shared, “I ask them things like, ‘I can’t get myself to sleep! So when do you all sleep?’, etc. They’re surprised most of the time. ‘Are you having trouble sleeping? I’m sorry to hear that’, ‘Do you need anything?’, etc., they all respond like that. Some say they are my fans since ‘Produce 101’ and didn’t expect to meet me on the plane. One of them gave me a pouch. I was so touched that I gave her my favorite keyring I had on my bag“.
Jeon So Mi continued, “Even today, I was heading out from the airport and I saw a husband taking a photo of his wife and two kids. So I asked, ‘Can I help you take a photo?’. Suddenly his wife recognized me and said, ‘I’m your fan!’. I said, ‘Thank you! Have a safe trip’. Those things are what give me life”.
She added, “Since people are so used to my image on TV that they feel as if they know me and some get too comfortable with me or treat me rashly, which makes me uncomfortable. That happened to me one too many times. Now that I’ve grown, I feel like I’m more in control with those kinds of situations. That’s why to those who treat me with respect, I can respond with kindness.”
