J-pop singer Imase gets emotional knowing BTS Jungkook sing a cover of his song “NIGHT DANCER”

J-pop rookie singer/Tiktok star Imase expressed his gratitude towards BTS Jungkook for doing a cover of “NIGHT DANCER”.

On May 25th, Jungkook held a live broadcast on the fan community Weverse under the title “Knock Knock..”

Jungkook said, “I was watching TikTok and… Do you guys know the song ‘NIGHT DANCER’ by Imase? I’ve been listening to this song. It keeps playing in my head, even when I go to bed.” 

With his perfect vocal, Jungkook enthusiastically presented a live performance of “NIGHT DANCER” by Imase.

Jungkook said, “The song is so good, isn’t it? That’s why it is so popular”, expressing his extraordinary affection for the song.

In response to Jungkook’s compliment, Imase posted on Twitter a photo of himself with a surprised expression and added the caption “omg… BTS!?!? What? Jungkook!?!? He sang ‘NIGHT DANCER’…!?!? Thank you!”. 

Imase also repeatedly thanked Jungkook even on his Instagram Reels and Tiktok account by posting a video of Jungkook singing “NIGHT DANCER” during the livestream and him showing a thumbs-up gesture while shouting “Thank you~ Thank you!”.

In addition, Imase kept mentioning Jungkook and repeating “Oh My God”, “Jungkook arigato gozaimasu (‘Thank you’ in Japanese)”, etc., throughout his Instagram live.

After Jungkook sang “NIGHT DANCER”, Jungkook effect immediately took place in Japan and Korea.

On Japan’s largest portal site Yahoo Japan, Imase ranked No.7 and “NIGHT DANCER” also rose to No.8 on the trending chart, showcasing its overwhelming popularity.

In addition, “NIGHT DANCER” also dominated No.1 in Japan’s lyrics search site UtaNet’s real-time chart as well as Korea’s music platform ‘Melon’ real-time search.

Imase’s “NIGH DANCER” was released in August 2022 and became known in Korea after it went viral on short-form platforms, such as TikTok, Youtube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.

In particular, it has emerged as one of the hottest J-pop song of this year and attracted more than 1.2 billion viewers after being used as the music for a TikTok dance challenge.
