ILLIT’s “Best Singer” Almost Debuted with BABYMONSTER?

A member of ILLIT, often called the group’s “best singer”, was a former YG trainee and almost debuted with BABYMONSTER.

Minju is the most highly regarded member in terms of talent, visual, and fame in the new girl group lineup of HYBE.

When talking about the most notable rookie at the moment, ILLIT – the youngest girl group of HYBE will be the first to be mentioned by many Kpop fans. Debuting with the E.P “Super Real Me” and the title track “Magnetic”, ILLIT easily went viral with both their music and choreography.

In fact, the girl group has since dominated Korean music charts, achieving the first Realtime All-Kill and moving towards new records in the international market.

Besides their impressive achievements and fame, ILLIT also faces controversy over their skills. In particular, the girl group’s encore stages have received criticism, with 2 Japanese members showing struggles in their vocal skills.

As ILLIT’s encore stages spread widely, netizens are now digging into the 5 ILLIT members’ experiences as trainees and contestants on the survival show “R U Next”. Among them, one member has been hailed as ILLIT’s “best singer”, and it’s none other than Korean member Minju.

In addition to being likened to a “living doll” in terms of visuals, Minju also impressed by “carrying” ILLIT during their encore stages.

For many netizens, this is no surprise, considering that Minju has been pursuing a career as a Kpop idol since she was 15 years old. She was trained and directed to become a vocalist. Besides her singing ability, the female idol can also play the violin, showing a strong affinity to music.

Additionally, Minju turns out to have trained under YG Entertainment. She was also a potential trainee in the “BLACKPINK’s little sister” project, and so has almost debuted with BABYMONSTER.

However, Minju left YG in 2021 and moved to the HYBE subsidiary BELIFT LAB. Many people thus believe that training under YG has provided Minju with her decent singing ability.

Despite the controversies surrounding music-building strategies, image, and promotion, the undeniable quality of the YG rookie cannot be denied. All 7 members of BABYMONSTER have stable skills, maximizing their individual strengths in dance, singing, and rapping. Additionally, though their songs are not doing well on Korean charts, BABYMONSTER’s live ability is highly acclaimed.
