Hyoyeon: “Thankful to SM for 7 Years of Support, Want to Give Back to the Company”

Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon expressed her gratitude for her agency, SM Entertainment.

Recently, Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon guested on dancer Gabee’s YouTube channel GABEE GIRL.

Hyoyeon remarked, “While I was in Girls’ Generation, I had many thoughts. I thought I shouldn’t have children. I also thought about quitting this and doing something else. People around me advised me to start a business, like clothing and accessories. But eventually, when my mind calmed down, I realized I should do what I’m best at. So, I tried various music genres as a solo dance singer, and among them, I liked the house genre. This genre is related to being a DJ, so I started DJing too.”

Listening to this, Gabee asked, “Can you release a solo album whenever you want?”

Hyoyeon replied, “The company has budgets, and album production is not cheap. Whether you’re in a group or going solo, the costs are similar. Group activities may earn more money.”

She added, “Now, I focus on dancing and performances, so I have to attend many events. If I can’t attend events, I won’t earn as much compared to the money the company invested.”

She continued, “The company has to consider such things too. We have to break even,” and explained, “Our company is a large-scale agency, and they respect the will and passion of the artists and provides more support.”

Gabee previously worked on choreography for several SM artists, including Hyoyeon, BoA, and aespa. Gabee commented, “From the perspective of someone receiving orders, SM gives off a ‘noble’ vibe. Both the company and the atmosphere exude a definite noble feeling.”

When asked why she wants to continue working with SM, Hyoyeon pointed to “loyalty” and said, “I was an SM trainee longer than most people. I’m very grateful to the company that supported me for 7 years. I want to give back more to the company. I hope the company earned more money because of me.”
