HYBE Announced Chairman Bang Si-hyuk Only Gets 1 Won As Salary This Year, The Truth Is…

Chairman Bang Si-hyuk of HYBE, who discovered the global supergroup BTS, will receive 1 won as his salary this year.

HYBE made the announcement in its 2024 Remuneration Plan for Internal Directors. The company explained that the decision was made to strengthen responsible management and emphasize HYBE’s “Pay for Performance” philosophy. One won is actually only a symbolic number.

In reality, Chairman Bang will receive 980 million won as a bonus. It is based on HYBE’s short-term performance and incentive system. Last year, the compensation committee within HYBE decided the bonus based on management performance and evaluation indicators.

Bang is likely to see more success this year, as the song “Easy” by LE SSERAFIM, of whom Bang is the executive producer, has entered Billboard’s main single chart at 99th place. Bang will also be in charge of producing I’LL-IT, which is set to debut as a new girl group under HYBE.

Bang was paid 50 million won in salary last year, with 300 million won as a bonus.

Korea CXO Research Institute announced the results of its survey of individual shareholders valued at more than 10 billion won among major cultural and content stocks in Korea in December last year. In this survey, Bang was revealed to own 13,151,394 HYBE shares and had a stock valuation of 3.774 trillion won. Bang had the largest holdings of Korean cultural and content-related stock assets in the list.
