Debuting in MBC’s sitcom “Kimchi Cheese Smile” (2007), Kim Soo-hyun gradually rose to stardom with roles in various productions such as KBS’s youth drama “Jungle Fish”, the short film “Worst Friends”, SBS’s special drama “Father’s House”, SBS’s “Will It Snow for Christmas?”, SBS’s “Giant”, KBS’s “Dream High”, MBC’s “Moon Embracing the Sun” and the movie “The Thieves”.

In 2013, he reached the peak of his career with SBS’s “My Love from the Star”, where he portrayed the role of Do Min-joon, an alien who landed on Earth during the Joseon Dynasty, bringing fantasy romance alongside Jun Ji-hyun. Thanks to writer Park Ji-eun’s creation of Do Min-joon, Kim Soo-hyun’s portrayal led to the “Do Min-joon Syndrome”, catapulting his popularity to unprecedented levels in China and across Asia.

In 2015, Kim Soo-hyun reunited with writer Park Ji-eun in KBS 2TV’s “The Producers”. Playing the role of Baek Seung-chan, a rookie PD in the entertainment division, Kim Soo-hyun showcased a wide range of charms, from a clumsy newcomer to a romantic pure-hearted man. His delicate acting skills shone brightly, making Baek Seung-chan stand out in every moment.

Being the complete opposite of Do Min-joon, Baek Seung-chan further enthralled viewers, proving Kim Soo-hyun’s versatility as an actor. “The Producers”, a fusion of drama and entertainment, consistently broke its own highest viewership ratings, becoming the talk of the town.

And now, after nine years, they reunite. Kim Soo-hyun is meeting viewers as Baek Hyun-woo through writer Park Ji-eun’s tvN drama “Queen of Tears”. The drama depicts the dizzying crisis and miraculous rekindling of love between Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), the third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun), the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, and their three years of marriage.

This is a character that seems ordinary but is not ordinary. Baek Hyun-woo, a man who went from being an office worker to joining a conglomerate then deciding on divorce, came to life vividly with Kim Soo-hyun’s portrayal. In particular, his portrayal of the rekindled love story with Kim Ji-won is stirring up excitement among viewers.

From alien, rookie PD to male Cinderella, working with writer Park Ji-eun has once again given wings to Kim Soo-hyun.
