Musical actor Min Woo Hyuk revealed his well-matched taste with his close friend Lee Jang Woo.
On June 9th, Min Woo Hyuk’s interview video was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Harper’s BAZAAR Korea”.
The interview was conducted on a ferry. Regarding changes after filming JTBC’s “Doctor Cha“, Min Woo Hyuk confessed, “Actually, my daily life isn’t much different from before. We’ve already finished shooting the drama through pre-production. Many people have shown love and interest, so I’m spending a day that feels a bit unreal.”
Min Woo Hyuk said happily, “About reward vacation, I’ve only heard about it, I’ve never experienced it myself. This time, due to the tremendous viewership of ‘Doctor Cha’, JTBC is sending us on a reward vacation. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join that reward vacation. Just during that time, I have a schedule for the musical ‘Hero’ in Busan. I had a really heavy heart about it, but Harper’s Bazaar gave me such a special gift like this. It’s magnificent. So, I’m not jealous of that reward vacation now.“
Regarding the reason why he decided to appear in “Doctor Cha”, Min Woo Hyuk shared, “My first TV appearance was on a program called ‘Immortal Songs’. At that time, the legendary artist was Uhm Jung Hwa. Jung Hwa treated us to a dinner gathering. So, at the gathering, I told her, ‘I was a big fan of yours when I was young and I really liked you.’ She smiled like a young girl and showed me so much love and support. So, I became an even bigger fan and had more support for her. I heard that she was going to appear in this drama. Isn’t this a bit like fate? I was already captivated before reading the script. And when I read the script, the script was so good. I really wanted to do it, so I prepared a lot and auditioned.”
When asked “Did you have a feeling that this drama would be a huge success?“, he replied, “I hoped that this drama would do well but I didn’t think it would be a huge success. As we tried to portray a somewhat comical approach to a stimulating subject, we had concerns like ‘Is it a bit dull?’ among the actors. When we were filming the drama, we talked among the actors about our expected viewer ratings, you know? But in the first episode, it got 4.9%. We thought, ‘Why did it turn out better than we expected?’ Then, the following week, it suddenly reached 7~8%. I felt so honored and grateful.“
He also seemed serious about food. About his favorite food, Min Woo Hyuk mentioned, “I prefer pork over beef. I prefer chicken over pork. I really like chicken, Chicken Gangjeong and Tteokbokki. After filming, I was so hungry that I ordered Terry Rose Tteokbokki with my manager. This is a tteokbokki restaurant that sells chicken gangjeong. They have mala chicken gangjeong. It’s a revolution, really.“
He added, “You think I have a lot of friends around me, but I’m a bit… I like spending time with people I don’t have to make an effort with, so I usually spend a lot of time with my family. Actor Lee Jang Woo also enjoys eating, so we get along really well when we eat together.“
