Stray Kids’ Collab with Charlie Puth Draws Mixed Reactions due to Controversies

Charlie Puth, who Stray Kids is about to collaborate with, has been embroiled in various controversies, causing mixed reactions.

Recently, it was reported that the JYP boy group Stray Kids will release a new digital single on May 10. The single, titled “Lose My Breath”, also features the singer-songwriter Charlie Puth, raising excitement.

However, the news has since been met with mixed reactions as previous accusations against Charlie Puth – from being a Zionist (supporter of Israel’s inhumane action in Palestine) to showing support for a rapist, were brought up.

In particular, Charlie Puth has openly supported Israel since 2015. As Israel public attacked Palestine in 2023, he explicitly stood with Israel by sharing posts by pro-Israel supporters.

The singer-songwriter is also known to have supported producer Dr. Luke while the latter was accused of sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abusing pop star Kesha, making him a “rape apologist”.

On top of that, Charlie Puth’s old SNS activities reveal him as being discriminatory against Muslim people and appreciative of problematic ideologies from Donald Trump.

The singer-songwriter even mocked Selena Gomez and Little Mix‘s Jade Thirlwall for not wanting to sleep with him.

As accusations pile up against Charlie Puth, some fans of Stray Kids have called to boycott the song. Others even ask Stray Kids to drop a version without Charlie Puth, as they can’t stand supporting such a character.

However, many also take a contrary stand, claiming that features (like Charlie Puth in this case), get paid in advance. Therefore, the only one affected by a boycott will be Stray Kids.
