Before Yoon Eun Hye, “Coffee Prince” almost casted this actress, but she was afraid of cutting her hair

After this actress’ withdrawal, Yoon Eun Hye became the female lead of the major hit K-drama “Coffee Prince”

Back in the 2000s, the K-drama “Coffee Prince” achieved such great popularity that it was considered an all-time classic. In fact, the drama was also regarded as a breakthrough for Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye, who played the main couple, and helped to boost their influence across Asia.

In “Coffee Prince”, Yoon Eun Hye plays the role of Go Eun Chan, who grew up in great difficulty and pretended to be a guy in order to get work. To best portray the role, Yoon Eun Hye did not hesitate to cut off all her long hair, giving an excellent performance and earning lots of praise.

Despite her outstanding portrayal, however, Yoon Eun Hye was not the first choice to play the female lead Eun Chan. Instead, the production team of “Coffee Prince” first set their eyes on actress Kim Ah Joong, who was a huge star after appearing in the blockbuster movie “200 Pounds Beauty”. However, Kim Ah Joong turned down the role since she did not want to cut her hair, leading to some audiences expressing their dissatisfaction and accusing Kim Ah Joong of not being dedicated to acting.

In the end, Yoon Eun Hye took up the mantle and earned great success. Meanwhile, while Kim Ah Joong’s career did not experience any downfall, none of her future projects achieved as much popularity as “Coffee Prince”.
