Chuu Achieves Final Win In Lawsuit Against Former Agency, “She Received Nothing Despite Making Big Profits”

Former LOONA member Chuu (real name Kim Ji-woo) officially won the suit against her former agency Blockberry Creative

On June 27th, the Supreme Court’s Division 3 (Chief Judge Roh Jung-hee) confirmed the lower court’s ruling in favor of Chuu in the female singer’s civil lawsuit against her former agency Blockberry Creative to terminate her exclusive contract. As a result, Chuu has finally won the case.

Having been in conflict with Blockberry Creative over profit settlements and other issues, Chuu ended up filing a lawsuit against the company to terminate her contract in December 2021.

After that, Blockberry Creative kicked Chuu out of her group LOONA in November 2022 by accusing her of abuse of power. Chuu denied the allegation and released explanations to prove her innocence.

In the first trial, the court ruled in favor of Chuu, saying “Chuu’s entertainment activities from 2016 to September 2021 generated a net profit of about 860 million won, but according to the terms regarding profit distribution in her contract with Blockberry Creative, Chuu could not receive any settlement payments.”

Former LOONA members Jeon Hee-jin, Kim Lip, Jung Jin-sol, and Choerry also won in the first trial for their lawsuit against Blockberry Creative’s exclusive contracts.

Meanwhile, Chuu signed an exclusive contract with the new agency ATRP in April last year and has been active as a solo singer and appearing on various entertainment broadcasts. She released her second mini-album “Strawberry Rush” on June 25th and has been carrying out promotional activities.
