Despite the chaos caused by sasaengfans, actor Byun Woo-seok successfully held his first fanmeeting in Taiwan

On June 9th, Taiwanese newspaper Liberty Times reported, “Korean drama ‘Lovely Runner’ actor Byun Woo-seok completed his fanmeeting attended by thousands of people but some sasaengfans appeared”.

According to the report, sasaengfans not only booked more than a dozen cars to follow the actor on the fanmeeting day but also rented the hotel where Byun Woo-seok stayed then pressed buttons for all the elevators on each floor. This was their way to find out the exact location of the actor’s room. This issue caused discomfort to the actor and frustration among fans.

After the fanmeeting, many fans gathered at a hot pot restaurant to have an after-party and Byun Woo-seok made hot topics as he came to thank the fans in person.

Earlier on the 8th, Byun Woo-seok held a fanmeeting at Taipei University Sports Center and had a good time with Taiwanese fans. Prior to the fanmeeting, the actor turned on a live broadcast and attracted as many as 260,000 viewers.

He said, “I’m so nervous. I’m doing my first Asian fanmeeting in Taipei today. I’m finally performing my first live show. Is this true?”. Taking a deep breath, Byun Woo-seok smiled and said, “I’m still very nervous.”

In particular, Byun Woo-seok explained the rumors of using AI robot to reply to fans’ comments. He said, “It wasn’t AI. I did it myself. I sent the DMs every time”, showing his efforts to communicate with fans. He emphasized, “Not robot. It was me, Byun Woo-seok”.

Before ending the live broadcast, he said, “I’m very nervous, but I wanted to see you guys before the fanmeeting. There are 20 minutes left, so I’m going to keep myself calm for now”.
