In 2023, “Layover” achieved a remarkable record as the K-pop solo album with the highest rank on Billboard 200. It received favorable reviews for introducing V’s unique musicality and bold attempts to create something different from the current music trends. The album ranked second in Billboard’s “Best K-pop Albums of 2023” and was selected as one of Top 30 Albums of 2023 by the UK’s Timeout magazine.

Even before releasing “Layover”, V had expanded BTS’s musical spectrum by showing his own music colors through songs of different genres, such as “Stigma”, “Singularity” and “Neo Soul”.

In particular, his sorrowful vocal expressions in “Stigma” were highly praised by domestic and foreign music critics. “Singularity” also gained recognition as it was chosen among Best Tracks of 2018 by The Guardian, Best Songs of 2018 by New York Times, and TOP 10 Best Songs of 2018 by LA Times.

With the recent release “Wherever U R”, V now has five solo songs that topped the iTunes charts in more than 100 countries. As such, he set a new record even during his hiatus to fulfill military service.

As of early January, V’s Spotify profile already exceeded 16.68 million followers, ranking second place among K-pop solo artists and fifth place among all groups and solo singers.
