The People’s Choice Awards, in its 49th year in 2024, is a prominent U.S. pop culture awards ceremony held since 1975. Spanning various fields such as movies, TV, and music, the winners are determined through public votes. The award ceremony’s results will be announced on February 18 through the NBC and E! channels and the Peacock streaming service.

In the past year, the global music scene witnessed the prominence of female artists like Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, and Miley Cyrus. Jungkook’s nomination in the “The Pop Artist of the Year” category highlights his unique position as the only male solo artist nominated.

Jungkook’s solo single “Seven (feat. Latto)” from July last year earned him a nomination in the “The Collaboration Song of the Year” category. “Seven” achieved remarkable milestones, including topping the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching the top 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart, and achieving 1 billion streams on Spotify in the shortest time globally (108 days).

Having won “The Collaboration Song of the Year” at the previous 2022 People’s Choice Awards for the collaboration with Charlie Puth on “Left and Right,” there is anticipation regarding Jungkook’s chances of securing consecutive wins.

Jungkook is also nominated in the categories of “The New Artist of the Year” and “The Male Artist of the Year.” Particularly in “The Male Artist of the Year,” he competes with artists like Morgan Wallen, who topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 16 times last year, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, and Drake, reflecting Jungkook’s rising stature.

Having embarked on official solo activities with the release of his first solo single “Seven” last year, Jungkook received the “Song of Summer” award at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards held in September.

Furthermore, with “Seven,” he won two trophies for “Best Song” and “Best K-Pop” at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards in November, becoming the first Korean solo artist to achieve a double victory. He also secured the “Top Global K-Pop Song” award at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards.
