BTS Suga released official feedback on his plan to open a makchang restaurant 10 years ago
The promise that Suga, a member of the world-class group BTS, made in 2013 is being re-examined.
On January 27th, 2013, Suga announced his intention to participate in a cooking competition of Big Hit Music on BTS’s official SNS account. He said, “Someone lends me a square knife and a round steel pan of ‘Cooking Master Boy’ (an animation). Starting today, I will put a special chef mark on top of the right arm part on all of my clothes. You need to put it under LED lights to see it shine”, revealing his imagination.
Suga continued, “Can someone play the BGM of ‘Cooking Master Boy’? When I start cooking, I’ll make all the ingredients fly around. Like ‘Cooking Master Boy’, when you eat the food I cook, you will feel the taste of Daegu’s summer in front of your eyes”, expressing his confidence.
He then said, “10 years later, I will set up a makchang (beef entrails) restaurant called ‘Daegu Makchang’. All of the restaurant employees will be natives who speak the Gyeongsang-do dialect, and the restaurant will be filled with intense hip-hop music”, revealing his specific goal.
Suga made everyone laugh with his witty wordplay, saying “Like a sommelier, I will bounce to the hip-hop beat while flipping the makchang. Sommelier is for wines, then I’ll be gommelier”.
He added, “Everyone in Seoul will call me ‘Suga the King of makchang’. Capture this tweet and upload it online again for me 10 years later. Because I’m very serious about this”, emphasizing that he was not joking.
Exactly 10 years later, on January 27th, 2023, Suga’s old tweets created hot topics in various online communities.
On the same day, Suga mentioned the plan to set up a makchang restaurant on the fan communication platform Weverse.
He said, “I didn’t know that I would be doing so well with my main job for 10 years. Makchang King Min Suga is still doing great with his main job, so he won’t be able to start the business for the time being. Thank you”.
Suga added, “We don’t know what will happen in the future, so let’s not be overconfident”, leaving advice.
In response to Suga’s official position on his ‘makchang business plan’, fans commented, “I don’t think he can start the business even 20 years later”, “I can’t imagine how Suga will grill makchang”, etc.
Meanwhile, Suga debuted as a member of BTS on June 13th, 2013. BTS became a global boy group after releasing various hit songs, such as “DNA”, “Blood Sweat and Tears”, “Butter”, etc.
