BTS proved their unrivaled popularity in Japan.
The Japan Music Copyright Association (JASRAC) unveiled its list of awards for the 2022 JASRAC Awards on May 18th. BTS won the “Best Foreign Work” award for their digital single “Dynamite”.
BTS is the only foreign singer to be named at the awards. Gold, silver, bronze, and even international awards are only for Japanese works.
“Dynamite” is a disco-pop genre song that delivered a hopeful message amid the pandemic situation. Although the song was released in 2020, it is still loved by listeners around the world.
BTS topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with this song. They were also the first Korean pop singer to be nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
The song also received enthusiastic responses from Japan. It has surpassed 600 million cumulative views based on Billboard Japan and succeeded in obtaining the “Diamond” certification from the Japan Record Association for the shortest time ever.
Meanwhile, BTS will release their new album “Proof” on June 10th which will include a total of three new songs as well as BTS’s thoughts on the past, present, and future.
