Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ broke the record once again.
As of January 6th, the music video for ‘GANGNAM STYLE‘ posted on Psy‘s official YouTube channel surpassed 4.3 billion views.
‘Gangnam Style’ is the title track of Psy’s 6th studio album ‘Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 1’, released in July 2012. With ‘Gangnam Style’, Psy became the first K-pop singer to reach No 2 on the Billboard Main Chart HOT 100 for 7 weeks, creating a worldwide craze.
‘Gangnam Style’ was the first video to surpass 2 billion views among YouTube contents, and it also changed the YouTube view counting method.
Meanwhile, on May 21, P-Nation reported to various media outlets, “Psy plans on making a comeback in the beginning of July with his 9th full album.” This will mark Psy’s first comeback in approximately 2 years and 2 months, since ‘4×2=8’ in May of 2017.
Psy raised public expectations by saying,“ I’ve had a lot planned for this year but decided not to put out the album thinking what meaning it would have without being able to host a concert. But next year, I will … no matter what situation would be like.”
