Stars Whose Children Attend International Schools: Jeon Ji-hyun, Kim Nam-joo And More
With their stable incomes, many Korean stars don’t hesitate to invest a lot of money in their children’s education
One of the most popular international schools attended by children of many stars is located in Songdo International City. If a student completes all 12 years from kindergarten to high school, the tuition alone would already cost 600 million won.
Actress Jeon Ji-hyun’s son Won-woo, who was born in 2015, entered the kindergarten managed by this international school in 2021. At that time, the actress’s agency refused to answer questions related to her private life, but the information became known when parents of students of that school revealed it. There are also rumors that the children of some other top stars were even eliminated due to the fierce competition for admission.
Kim Nam-joo and Kim Seung-woo’s daughter Rahee ranked top 5% of gifted students in a test during elementary school and was considered among top 1% of gifted students in Korea. Rahee studied at Incheon International School and is currently attending Deerfield Academy, a prestigious private high school in Massachusetts, the US.
In 2016, the couple drew admiration for the effort they made for their first child’s education by moving to Songdo, Incheon together. Appearing on “You Quiz on the Block”, the actress shared, “I had a complex about academics. When I was young, I wanted to study abroad and live abroad. I went abroad a lot for CF shoots but I envy international students friends who work and study there. I thought about studying abroad a few times but I was afraid that I would lose by position after coming back”.
Kim Nam-joo and Kim Seung-woo’s education method, which was the Jewish Education Method, also aroused keen interest from the public. In an interview, the actress said she adjusted her schedule to spend time at home with her children and read many books with them.
In addition, S.E.S member and actress Eugene, who had two daughters Lohee and Lorin after marrying Ki Tae-young, is also a Songdo mom. First of all, Lohee, who became known to the public after appearing in “Superman Returns”, is known for her outstanding language talents. Therefore, Eugene decided to choose an international school to help Lohee develop her language talents after finding out that Lohee got IQ 127 at the age of 5.
Hyun-young’s daughter is also studying at the international school in Songdo. On an entertainment program, she revealed that the school required document screening, written tests, and interviews with family for admission. The actress also suggested discussing social issues with kids at home to develop their ability to express opinions.
In this regard, the public showed different reactions. Some said they cannot relate to them because such education methods can only be applied to the rich. However, others believe that it’s nothing wrong to spend a lot of money on providing their children with a good education.
