During a broadcast on Youtube, an 80-year-old Japanese announcer bragged that “I can get the AKB48 members pregnant”.
Japanese freelance announcer Kazuo Tokumitsu is being criticized for his sexual harassment remarks.
Kazuo Tokumitsu, who is 80 years old this year, appeared on the YouTube channel “Strange Talks of Shidobashi Hikase” on Oct 30th and shocked the audience by saying, “I can still get one or two AKB48 members pregnant.” The mentioned video was quickly deleted from their YouTube channel, but it still began to spread among netizens.
AKB48 is an extremely popular large-scale Japanese idol group that is still maintaining its unique system in which members are selected through general elections every year. In this way, fans can pick the members they like by getting voting tickets through purchasing albums. Hitomi Honda, who debuted in the Korean girl group IZ*ONE, is also famous as an AKB48 member in Japan.
Kazuo Tokumitsu is known to have been hosting AKB48’s general elections for more than 8 years. He was born in 1941 and just turned 80 this year. However, the average age of AKB48 members is only 21. This issue was even more shocking since many members were born in 2004 and are still underage.
In Japan, the public is pouring out criticisms for his remarks. Meanwhile, Korean netizens also got angry, saying, “At such an old age but he still doesn’t know what should be said and what not”
