(G)I-DLE Almost Named ‘Anycolor’ Following TVXQ’s Example, Shocking Revelation
Miyeon and Minnie Share the Story of How Their Team Almost Got Named 'Anycolor'
On the 13th, a video titled “Let’s Eat with Kkondae – (Kkondae and) (G)I-DLE (feat. Miyeon, Minnie)” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Kkondaehee.’ In this video, (G)I-DLE members Miyeon and Minnie engaged in delightful conversation and comedy with comedian Kim Dae-hee, bringing lots of laughter to the viewers.
During the video, Kim Dae-hee asked, “There are five members, right? The other names are Soyeon, Yuqi, Soojin, and Shuhua, are they all real names?” They answered, “Yes, all of us use our real names.”
Miyeon and Minnie then shared the story of how their team almost got named ‘Anycolor.’ They explained that there were many candidates for their team name, and one of them was ‘Anycolor.’ Minnie explained, “We wanted to use the colors and animals we liked before our names, similar to TVXQ sunbaenims.” Miyeon added that she liked green and was going to be called ‘Green Crocodile,’ while Minnie liked pink and was going to be ‘Pink Mouse,’ inspired by Minnie Mouse.
Kim Dae-hee burst into laughter at this, and Miyeon and Minnie, puzzled, asked, “Is this funny?” Kim Dae-hee then playfully announced, “This week’s number one is Anycolor. Let’s hear from Green Crocodile and Pink Mouse,” to which Miyeon and Minnie wittily responded, “Yellow Fish, Blue Sky, and White Butterfly couldn’t be here because they’re elsewhere,” humorously completing the imaginary team interview. They noted that ‘Blue Sky’ was not an animal because it was named by their manager and couldn’t be changed.
In another segment, Kim Dae-hee, curious about Minnie’s name while she was quietly focused on eating, asked for her real name. When Minnie asked, “My real name?” Kim Dae-hee explained that she should answer with her real name when an elder asks. Minnie slowly replied, “Nicha Yontararak,” to which Kim Dae-hee jokingly shouted, “Are you making fun of me?” Miyeon confirmed, “That’s her real name.”
Kim Dae-hee humorously tried to spell out Minnie’s name syllable by syllable and asked, “Is it ‘Nicha Your Car’ and ‘Nicha Your Sound is Yontararak’?” Minnie confirmed, which made everyone laugh. Kim Dae-hee admitted, “I’ve heard many last names, but ‘Ni’ is a first,” and Minnie corrected him, saying, “It’s not ‘Ni,’ it’s ‘Yontararak.'”
In the same video, Kim Dae-hee asked Minnie, “What is your father’s name?” Minnie responded, “His phone number?” This led to a brief moment of misunderstanding, after which Minnie clarified that her father’s name is “Danud Yontararak,” confidently adding that it can be found on Namuwiki.
Kim Dae-hee, who had mistaken Minnie for a Korean, apologized, saying, “I’m sorry. I thought you were Korean,” which led to a heartwarming conclusion to their cultural misunderstanding and communication difficulties.
