Saesang Fans Ignored Warnings, Byun Woo-seok Suffers More Intrusions

Actor Byun Woo-seok continues to face harassment from overzealous fans, known as "sasaeng fans," who are violating his privacy.

On June 9, a Taiwanese media outlet reported that Byun Woo-seok, who was in Taiwan for a fan meeting, was experiencing “sasaeng” intrusions. According to the report, these fans rented over 10 cars in a day and tried to locate Byun Woo-seok by pressing elevator buttons on every floor of the hotel he was staying at. They even followed him to the restaurant he visited after the fan meeting.

This kind of behavior has been a recurring issue not only overseas but also in South Korea. Even during a private schedule, such as a drama wrap-up interview, fans showed up at the location, which was an unusual occurrence.

In response, Byun Woo-seok’s agency issued a statement on May 30, expressing concern over the disruption caused by crowds during the artist’s activities. They emphasized that the unauthorized visits by some fans to non-public schedules were causing significant distress to the artist and organizers. The agency urged fans to refrain from attending unofficial schedule locations.

The statement also warned against following the artist’s vehicle after schedules, unauthorized visits and filming at private locations including his residence, and illegally obtaining personal information. Such actions would be met with strict legal consequences.

However, it seems that obsessive fans are ignoring such warnings, leading to Byun Woo-seok having to suffer from constant intrusions of privacy.
