“Arthdal Chronicles 2” unveils script reading scenes of Jang Dong Gun, Lee Joon Ki, Shin Se Kyung & Kim Ok Vin

“Aramun’s Sword”, also known as “Arthdal Chronicles 2”, released photos of the cast taken at the script reading.

On July 21st, the production team of tvN’s new Sat-Sun drama “Aramun’s Sword” (written by Kim Young Hyun, Park Sang Yeon/ directed by Kim Kwang Sik) revealed the scenes at the script reading.

“Aramun’s Sword” is the new name for the second season of “Arthdal Chronicles”. It depicts the myths of Arthdal written by the owner of the sword and the fateful stories of Tagon, Eumseom, Tanya, and Tae Alha. “The Great Battle” director Kim Kwang Sik once again joined hands with historical drama master Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon, who created the original worldview and characters of “Arthdal Chronicles”, to create Season 2.

The collaboration of Jang Dong Gun (as Tagon), Lee Jun Ki (Eumseom, Saya), Shin Se Kyung (Tanya), and Kim Ok Vin (as Tae Alha) is also raising high expectations from viewers. Jang Dong Gun continues to portray Tagon, the first king of Arthdal who initiates a great war for absolute power, while Lee Jun Ki plays the adult version of Eumseom, leader of the Agos tribe who comes to Arthdal for dignity. Shin Se Kyung takes on the role of the grown-up Tanya, the high priestess of Arthdal who utilizes God’s will for the people, and Kim Ok Vin plays Tae Alha, a politician who does anything for her own goals. 

All the lead actors and actresses of “Aramun’s Sword” attended the script reading. Except for Shin Se Kyung, who couldn’t join as she was confirmed to have Covid-19, the actors gathered at the script-reading venue for the first time in a while and filled the atmosphere with excitement and pleasant talks.

As the script reading began, the cheerful set quickly transformed into a stage of passionate performances as the actors completely immersed themselves in their characters. They heated up the atmosphere with their stable acting and amazing chemistry with each other.

First, Jang Dong Gun expressed Tagon’s presence and his heavy burden after intense struggles that led him to reach the peak of power. The actor’s deep eyes combine with his dignified voice to highlight the depth of Tagon’s long narratives. Although it was only a script reading, Jang Dong Gun drew admiration with his performance, showcasing various aspects of Tagon from his courageous determination to initiate a great war for absolute power to his inner worries as a leader.

Lee Joon Gi drew attention as he performed two distinct characters Eunseom and Saya at once. The actor expressed the strong fighting spirit of Eunseom, the leader of the Agos tribe, along with the sharp and smart characteristics of Saya. Fans are looking forward to Lee Jun Ki’s new transformation as Eumseom and Saya with contrasting personalities.

The passionate performance of Kim Ok Vin, who seemingly transformed into politician Tae Alha also caught the eyes of fans. Kim Ok Vin powerfully expressed Tae Alha’s relentless pursuit of her desires and ambitions, leaving a strong impact and captivating everyone during the script reading. Anticipation is high for Kim Ok Vin to showcase her charms as Tae Alha once again.

The production team of “Aramun’s Sword” shared, “It was such a precious time for us to once again feel the actors’ passion and affection for this work”, adding, “‘Aramun’s Sword’ will present various interesting stories based on different relationships, including the unavoidable confrontation between the hero Tagon and his opponent Eunseom. Please look forward to the intense battles and the grand finale of the war to find out who will conquer Arthdal and become the protagonist of this new legend”.

The drama is set to air in September.
