4 people around actor Yoo Ah In, who is suspected of using 5 types of drugs, were reportedly criminally charged by the police.
According to “SBS Eight O’Clock News” on May 3rd, the police booked 4 people around Yoo Ah In on charges of violating drug management and converted them into suspects. The four are artist, YouTuber…, with whom Yoo Ah In has shown close friendships.
These are the people who entered the country together with Yoo Ah In when he came from the U.S. on February 5th. Although they were witnesses at the beginning of the investigation, they are suspected of helping Yoo Ah In take drugs or taking drugs directly. There are people who tested positive for marijuana during the additional search and seizure of their residences at the end of last month.
The police also found circumstantial evidence that Yoo Ah In abused zolpidem. Zolpidem is a sedative-hypnotic drug to help with insomnia. However, as abuse of this substance can develop into addiction, doctors cannot prescribe more than 10mg per day for patients. As duplicate prescriptions became difficult, Yoo Ah In is believed to have received proxy prescriptions several times through people around him.
The police are investigating about 10 hospitals where Yoo Ah In overprescribed propofol or abused zolpidem.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In is accused of using propofol more than 100 times over the past two years, as well as marijuana, cocaine and ketamine. Afterwards, the fact of taking zolpidem was additionally confirmed, increasing the number to 5.
